Why I won’t Teach my own Sister Internet Marketing
November 14th, 2008 | 63 Comments
(*edit* Just to be clear, my sister and I get along great and I have a great deal of respect for her for what she’s overcome in her life! I’m not putting down my sister in this post, I’m simply using a situation involving her as an example to teach others!)
After several years of hard times, one of my sisters got her act together, began to stay out of trouble, live a healthy life and she’s been doing it for a few years now. She’s been managing a furniture store and although the pay could be worse, it could be ALOT better too.
She asked me how she could make some money online for some extra money, so I got an article writing service going for her. She wrote a bunch of articles for a bunch of people and did well, but wasn’t really enthused about it.
After a while she got a raise at work and decided to stop writing articles for now, which I completely understood, nothing wrong with that.
However, I’ve told her several times in the past if she wanted to start a Website I’d help her do with it whatever she wants and help her make some money with it… I even registered her name domain. She never got excited about it and that domain is still empty, with it’s own account on my server.
She recently got tired of her boss and said she was ready to start doing what I’m doing online… I said, “no you’re not”
So, why won’t I help her? Simply because she doesn’t have the passion that it requires to do well online. It doesn’t take skill… it doesn’t take knowledge, that comes with time, it takes passion and determination. Those who are successful online (in business in general for that batter) are those who LOVE what they do!
People who are just happy to be building things that MAY or MAY NOT make them alot of money. People who understand that it will probably take a long time to make a good deal of money, but keep going because they just LOVE doing it!
Unfortunately MANY people who get into Internet Marketing, especially these days with the current economic conditions, aren’t getting into it because of their passion, they’re doing it because they think they can make some quick easy money and 99,999 times out of 100,000 that’s just not the case.
If my sister told me she completely understands that it may take YEARS to make good money online, although with my help it wouldn’t take that long at all
) and she just wants to do it because it just seems really exciting, I’d be helping her in every way possible! But it’s not a passion of hers… it’s simply something she sees me making good money with, so she figures she can make some easy money with it too.
So, if you don’t honestly enjoy this whole Internet Marketing thing, I highly recommend you find another occupation, because it’s very likely that you will fail.
On the other hand, if you honestly enjoy doing this, stick with it and NEVER give up! It takes time, but when you truly have a passion for something, you WILL succeed… some take longer than others, but eventually you will!

Top 5 Most Profitable Internet Marketing Business Models
October 29th, 2008 | 24 CommentsA couple weeks ago I shared 5 Overused, Ineffective Internet Marketing Techniques. In the comment field of that post Peter Tremayne suggested my next post be on the top 5 “underused, effective techniques.” I liked the idea, so today I’d like to go that route, but change it up a bit.
Today I’d like to share with you the top 5 most profitable Internet Marketing Business Models. #1, #2 and #3 can all be nearly just as profitable depending on how they’re worked, but I believe the order I put them in is pretty accurate.
You’ll notice that blogging isn’t one [...] Continue Reading…

Should Newbies Concentrate on Earning Adsense Income?
October 24th, 2008 | 29 CommentsIn November of 2004, almost exactly 4 years ago, I created my very first Website. At the time I hadn’t even heard of the Google Adsense Program and honestly didn’t know how I was going to make money with it. I just enjoyed the Country I was living in at the time (Germany) and wanted to share my experience with others, while sharing travel tips at the same time.
I still own the website and you can take a look if you like (still as ugly as ever and goes against some of the most important SEO advice I [...] Continue Reading…

October 20th, 2008 | 9 CommentsA few months ago I began mentioning a new report that I was writing, which laid out my exact email marketing technique. After a vacation to Germany a little procrastination and some work, I’ve finally finished the report and made it available at:

This is the exact winning strategy I use in order to earn approximately $1,000+ with each and every promotional email I send out with what many would consider a “Tiny” list!
This is a very simple technique that anyone can use and the best part is, it’s Ethical and it actually helps people! As a matter of [...] Continue Reading…

5 Overused, Ineffective Internet Marketing Techniques
October 13th, 2008 | 36 CommentsSometimes a technique is effective at one point in time, but becomes ineffective later on. Sometimes a technique just sounds so right that “it’s gotta be true” although it’s not. Sometimes the effectiveness of a technique is exaggerated to sell products!
Whether the following are ineffective due to one or more of the above, or for some other reason, they are indeed overused and ineffective techniques that Internet Marketers commonly use:
1. Using quotation marks around a phrase to judge it’s competition - If you want your page/site to rank #130 for your targeted phrase then this technique is effective. [...] Continue Reading…

Why I Like Twitter and Why Others Don’t
October 7th, 2008 | 34 CommentsI’ve written about Twitter a few times. Once shortly after signing up, then once a few months later when I started to actually use it. Now that I’ve been a regular user for several months, I think it’s a great time to tell you why I really like it and why I believe some people really hate it.
But first, I’ll tell you what it is in case you don’t know.
Twitter is a social network, but it’s MUCH simpler than most others and doesn’t take hours, or days to understand. Twitter is often called “micro blogging” and you’ll understand [...] Continue Reading…

Keyword Research Simplified!
September 24th, 2008 | 51 CommentsOne of the most important aspects of article marketing and niche marketing is keyword research. If you do it incorrectly, or even worse, you don’t do it at all, it’s like shooting in the dark… you might hit something here or there, but most of the time you’re going to miss in a big way.
With that being said, you’d think there would be plenty of good information out there on the subject, right? Well there’s not! The reason being, many people just don’t understand it and there’s good reason for that.
There are 2 steps one must take to researching [...] Continue Reading…

What is a Good Internal Linking Structure?
September 15th, 2008 | 34 CommentsI was recently asked a few questions at Coaching with Josh in regards to Internal Linking Structures.
It’s no secret that the way in which we link our pages from within is extremely important for both the user and the Search Engines, but there is very little in regards to exactly WHAT a good internal linking structure is.
I’ve actually spoken about Internal linking many times before on this blog and elsewhere, but as far as I know I’ve never actually said exactly what constitutes a good internal linking structure.
Which Type of Structure Should I Use?
Firstly, you should know that [...] Continue Reading…

How to Legally Use Images from Flickr on your Sites
September 3rd, 2008 | 28 CommentsSeveral weeks ago I wrote a blog post and used an image I had found on Flickr.com. The guy who took the pic replied to the blog comment letting me know that it was his work and I didn’t have the right to use it in my blog post. I was ignorant in assuming that I was right and he was wrong, so I told him he needed read and understand the TOS of Flickr before submitting photos lol
Then I, myself, went to flickr and read their TOS only to find out that I was the dumb ass

Internet Marketing isn’t as Difficult as it Seems!
August 28th, 2008 | 45 CommentsThis is a topic I’ve been wanting to get off of my chest for a while now. I’m pretty sure there will be people who completely disagree with me on this, but I believe it to be true, in general, when it comes to Internet Marketing, and I’m guessing, in any industry.
People make things out to be much more difficult than they really are!
In most cases it’s because these people are told things are more difficult than they really are from people who know better, but want to make some money selling them something!
One of the best examples, in [...] Continue Reading…
